Duma

KUSA National RR '03 & '05 Ch Umjumi Duma      HD00 ED00 CGC Silver

SA CHAMPION AND KUSA NATIONAL CHAMPION 2003 &2005

  • Date of Birth: 30.09.2001
  • Sire: Cartouche Ambula
  • Dam: Ch Cartouche Dineo of Umjumi

From the onset, Duma caught my eye. He has not disappointed me in the show ring or the other disciplines in which he takes part. He has won multiple group placings and went RBIS at SARRC CH show in 2003. He qualified for Dog Of The Year in 2003 and went through the semi finals. He also qualified 2 years in a row for Natal Top Dog. He was the KUSA National Rhodesian Ridgeback  in 2003 & 2005.

At 18 months he passed his DMA (young dog aptitude test) and in 2004 attained a + 89 score for the adult aptitude test in KZN – an excellent achievement for a hound (this test is designed for working/guarding breeds).  Unfortunately there is no breed-specific aptitude testing in this country.

His training in other disciplines includes: Agility, Obedience, Bronze & Silver CGC titles and Manwork (Beginner Manwork Dog of The Year Award in 2003 – McKaynine Training Centre)

Duma passes on his superb temperament and excellent ridge, plus his wonderful movement to his progeny. His pups are winning in Europe as well as here.

He is the laidback one that thrives in his comfort zone. He is self assured and very confident within himself and his environment and therefore does not find the need to "prove" his masculinity. His body language says it all - you are beneath me and don't warrant a second glance, let alone attention. He has the ability to look right through other dogs.

Judge:  Mr Tammas Jakkel - Hungary

Superbly handled by Shannon McKay of Saxony Great Danes and McKaynine Training Centre

A TRUE GENTLEMAN

Now sadly passed on, Duma left behind not only memories of his mark on the world of Dog Shows and the successes enjoyed by his progeny, but the profound impact he made on all who knew him.

The first and only Umjumi dog. A born aristocrat, gentle and well mannered. A superb specimen and a true ambassador of the Breed. He loved harmony in all aspects of life and we can only strive towards ensuring that a worthy successor to our lovely Duma one day arrives to enrich our lives.
